Passage: John 20:19-31
Because Jesus is alive, we have a new life of faith.
- Living by faith can be hard and unnatural
- Big question: Would it be better if we could see?
- see God's plan for us
- see God Himself
- Locked doors represent:
- the paralyzing feeling with our fears
- how powerful Jesus is
- He shows up in a locked room
- Jesus wants to meet me in the midst of my fear.
Point 1: Jesus wants to bring Peace in the middle of my fears.
- what is holding me back?
- what are my fears?
- am I letting Jesus meet me in my fears?
Point 2: Jesus' Peace is empowered by a spirit-filled purpose.
- Jesus had a mission:
- John 3:17 - Save the world
- John 10:10 - To give up His life so that we might have a full life
- John 18:37 - Testify the Truth and reconcile people back to God
- His mission is now our mission
- Jesus gives us the Holy Spirit to give us authority
- John 20:23 - we have authority to represent God's forgivness in the world
- if the world accepts/responds to our message, they are saved
- if the world denies/rejects our message, they are condemed
Point 3: Jesus wants to confront my doubt.
- God can handle all my fears/doubt
- He already knows my fears/doubt
- nothing can surprise God
Life Giving Truth: It's better when I can't see.
